We’re Bob & Dani, & we run the Shoulder of Mutton in Strumpshaw.

The Mutton is an old-fashioned Norfolk village pub. It’s full of old brewing signs, local history, familiar faces & the occasional bit of organised chaos.
We have six changing real ales, we’ve been in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide every year since 2019, & our kitchen team turns out some fabulous food.
But there’s a lot more to the Mutton than beer & food.
On any given week, you might find a crafting group, a charity quiz, a folk session, a pétanque match or a collection of classic motorcycles outside.
We have an annual beer festival, celebrate Burns Night, welcome the village’s steam engines & organise a free Christmas dinner for our senior citizens.
Some of these things have been going on for years. Others happened because somebody suggested something and we thought it sounded like a good idea.
We’ve also been fortunate enough to win Broadland’s Business in the Community Award in both 2025 & 2026.
The People Behind the Mutton
Of course, none of this would be possible without our team.
We’re incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful group of people working alongside us.
Their hard work, loyalty, humour & willingness to muck in make the Mutton what it is.
It’s very much a team effort, & we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We don’t really know how to be anything other than the Mutton. And we wouldn’t want to.
