A village pub should be somewhere people can meet, make friends, share interests & enjoy a bit of company.
We’re delighted to provide a home for several local groups, whether it’s a morning coffee, an afternoon of crafting or an evening spent talking about classic cars and motorcycles.
Pétanque at The Mutton
Our pétanque terrain is named in honour of Rod, the pub previous Landlord who loved to play. The terrain brings people together for ‘friendly’ competition, conversation & time outdoors.
It’s a chance to catch up with other teams, familiar & new faces & enjoy the rivalry that the game brings. Our charity Pro-Am events also raise money for local good causes.
Strumpshaw Coffee Break
Tuesdays, 10am–11.30am
A friendly weekly gathering where everyone is welcome, whether you’re new to the village or simply fancy a chat over coffee.
Run on a donation-only basis, Coffee Break also supports local and national charities. In 2022 alone, the group donated over £2,000 to good causes.
The group takes a break during August, returning in September.

Strumpshaw Crafting Friends
Mondays, 2–4pm
From knitting and crochet to sewing, lace-making and everything in between, all crafters are welcome.
Come along, share your skills, learn something new or simply enjoy an afternoon with like-minded people.
There’s no charge to attend.
BSA Owners Club
First & third Tuesdays of the month, from 7pm
We’re delighted to welcome the local BSA Owners Club to the Mutton.
A chance for motorcycle enthusiasts to get together, share stories & enjoy an evening in the pub.
Cars ‘n’ Natter
First Monday of the month, from 5.30pm
Whether you own a classic car, an unusual vehicle or simply enjoy talking about anything with an engine, Cars ‘n’ Natter is for you.
Come along, have a look at the vehicles & enjoy a chat with fellow enthusiasts.
